Ford Continues Driving Skills for Life Programme in Myanmar, Provides Education on Safe Driving
- Myanmar drivers will receive both classroom and practical training as part of Ford’s global Driving Skills for Life (DSFL) campaign
- Now in its 15th successful year globally, the program has trained more than 1 million individuals in safe driving practices
May 11th, 2018 Yangon – Ford Motor Company continued its global Driving Skills for Life (DSFL) driver safety programme in Myanmar by hosting a series of DSFL workshops in Yangon on 11-12 May.
More than 250 licensed drivers – including civil servants, media, Ford customers and members of the community – participated in four half-day DSFL workshops free-of-charge.
The DSFL programme aims to raise awareness of road safety, and help to reduce traffic fatalities and injuries, by helping educate drivers on the skills and techniques needed to drive more safely.
The training sessions address various driver risks, such as dealing with unexpected scenarios, distracted driving caused by mobile phone use, hazard recognitions and speed management. Family safety tips such as the importance of ensuring child seats are securely fastened or driving tips for pregnant women are also highlighted in both classroom and practical sessions.
Organized in partnership with Ford’s local distributor partners, Capital Automotive Limited and the RMA Group, trainers from the RMA Academy led the DSFL training, alongside local dealership staff who have been trained by Ford’s global DSFL team.

The programme is conducted through a mix of classroom and practical training sessions where drivers are offered a hands-on driving experience.
An emphasis on the dangers of driving under the influence of alcohol or medication was also incorporated as part of the programme. This included having participants wear specially designed goggles that help simulate the experience of driving while movement, coordination and alertness are impaired.
DSFL is Ford’s flagship global corporate social responsibility (CSR) programme funded by Ford Motor Company Fund – the philanthropic arm of Ford Motor Company.
