Lao Ford City Boosts Hygiene Education During Ford Global Caring Month 2018
September 20th, 2018 Vientiane – This September, LFC proudly took part in Ford’s largest annual humanitarian collective, Global Caring Month – an initiative involving over 27,000 Ford employees and volunteers across 40 countries supporting causes within their community.
To promote safe hygiene practices around Laos, LFC is sponsoring Laos’ Health Poverty Action (HPA), an organization that works to strengthen poor and marginalized people in their struggle for health. Funds granted by Ford Motor Company’s philanthropic arm will go towards supporting HPA projects and help them purchase essential materials.
Additionally, 30 LFC and HPA volunteers, along with two experts from the Ministry of Health, organized a health awareness day at Paktone and Huay Lar primary schools located in the country’s rural Sangthong District.
HPA organized educational hygiene and health awareness activities for 80 students from Pakton and 50 from Huay Lar. Lao Ford City staff were on the ground teaching students about basic sanitation, clean water and healthy food through interactive songs and games.
At the end of the day, everyone enjoyed a healthy lunch cooked without MSG to show students how they can incorporate healthy practices in their daily lives. Funds from the sponsorship were also used to give students sanitary and learning materials.
Ford Global Caring Month projects have been organized across Asia Pacific including in Thailand, Myanmar, Cambodia, Vietnam and the Philippines.
